I've got an extra ticket to Maria's show at Rooster T Feathers if any South Bay Area Bammer fans are interested. First come, first serve.

So, unfortunately, I got stuck in Dallas on Thursday and had to give my Maria tickets away to a friend. Here's his email review, if you are interested --- Front, center table, one seat back. Basically I got to look up Maria's nose the whole time. But even better, she asked, "So, has anyone ever been fired from a job?" A quarter of the audience said yes, including me nodding with an "Oh, yeah." MB: "So, you -- what job did you get fired from?" Me: "It was an Engineer job." MB: "An engineer? Why did they fire you?" Me: "They said I was too slow." Then she did a one-minute verbal/visual riff on standing (like a coat rack) in a cube, mumbling away about taking the time to do things right. It looked like she somehow channeled Jeff. <Jeff is another engineer friend who is just like that> And then "too slow" got a callback twenty minutes later.
I was surprised: her 'character work' only took up half her set, one third(-ish) was jokes, and the remainder was audience interaction, then riffing. It was all good, but her audience work had a real polish to it.
Bummer for me not being able to see Maria in a small setting. I was going to give her a little baby Jesus doll. But let's hear it for Maria the riff-master. She's always saying she's not good at improvisation and crowd work, but apparently she's getting better and better.
