If you could do anything what would you do? Well, I do have two dream jobs. One I can get, but wouldn't pay nearly enough to be able to make a career out of and the other just seems to be waaaayyyy out of my league. The first is being a costumed character at Disney World. Yeah, I know, it's stupid, but I've just loved the park ever since I was first there. I also met a guy whose entire family works there as costumed characters and found out that depending on your height class, you get certain character. Like for example I'd be getting either the Jafar costume, the Chewbacca costume, or the Darth Vader costume due to my height. Now doesn't that sound cool? But yeah, they get paid diddly squat and it's really hard to try to afford living in Orlando, so that's kinda out.
Second is becoming a voice actor. I've been working on different voices and accents since I was little and bouncing up and down on playground equipment singing random songs in my head using the voice of Kermit the Frog or Mickey Mouse and actually pulling it off. Of course, my voice has dropped considerably since then, but some time in choir allowed me to develop a mean falsetto, so the high ones are still reachable. But, yeah, my mother always told me that my voice was my biggest asset, but she also told me it would be next to impossible to get it to pay the bills. I've looked into what I'd need to do to become a voice actor and the first and foremost thing I saw on there was to move to Los Angeles and...well...I'm sorry, but that's a bit much for a job that's about as tentative as it gets. Besides, I don't know anybody in the know out there and...I tend to do very poorly with auditions because of the very small number of people in the audience for those...it scares me.
Regardless, in terms of life experience I always wanted to have, I always wanted to be the leader of a band with a message. You know those types like Rage Against the Machine who clearly are trying to get a message across with every song they put out. Well, I want to create a band championing the cause of militant niceness. I plan on bringing it out of the world of oxymorons and into the light. The fact is, the nice guys are usually the ones getting stepped on by the majority society and nobody is the voice for them. I'd create songs that would not only make people aware of the hypocrisies with this system, but also give a call to nice guys everywhere to rise up and take a stand that respecting women and being gentlemanly should not be a stigma anymore!
Ahem, anyways, how about you guys? And, yes, I wish I had Maria Bamford as a connection in Hollywood for voice acting...*sigh*
