Hi Maria and other Maria fans.
I recently had an epiphany about the nature of the universe while listening to the NPR radio show Radio Lab and I thought it was really funny in a depressing sort of way.
The segment in Question can be found here.
www.radiolab.org/2008/mar/10/lying-to-ourselves/
It goes into detail about a psychological test that two researchers came up with while getting drunk, the test was used to determine how honest people were about themselves. The funny thing is that those who are the most honest about themselves tend to be less successful and more prone to depression than those who are not honest with themselves.
What could this possibly mean? If you are a religious person it might imply that god favors those who lie to themselves and may in fact be the Lord of Lies, and if those who are more honest with themselves and see the world more truthfully are more likely to be miserable that might imply that the true nature of the universe is miserable, sort of a Hell.
Thankfully I'm not a religious person. My personal opinion is that honest people are just too nice to shatter deluded peoples views of themselves and get depressed because of the overwhelming stupidity of society in general. You don't have to be mean about it, but you should not allow self deluded people to continue to be deluded.
Oh and the meaning of life is life, what defines living things is that they insure the survival of living things.
My personal delusion is that I understand things better than most people I meet and if you try to shatter my delusion then suck it.
