So I've gone through the digital labyrinth to arrive here at my own thread on Maria Bamford's website. Hey, we take the epic quests as we find them these days. I;m a married 51-year old lawyer in Pennsylvania and first saw Maria on her first Comedy Central special. I was so impressed with her brilliance, talent and sweet, gentle beauty that I couldn't remember her name when I wanted to look for her website a few weeks later. I scrolled through the Comedy Central comedian list and found her and the website, which I checked out occasionally for maybe two years. Early this year I started a MySpace page as a combination parental monitor of my son's site and for experimental web promotion for my legal work. I found Maria's page, requested a friend add with a message, and she answered me, by name, thanking me for my support. Then I started watching the sitcoms at Superdeluxe, which both stunned me with the revelation of her depressive breakdown and amazed me with how well she had turned her misery into comedy. I still watch #10, the bouncy musical "Dark," whenever I need a mood lift, and post occasional comments on her Myspace and Superdeluxe pages. Maria is just one of my very favorite comedians and a very inspiring person.
